29 Mar

This April marks the start of National Pet Month to recognize all the pet owners and lovers from across country. The number of animal owners and activists grow each and everyday with over eighty million homes in America having a four legged friend living with them. National Pet Month one ups itself each and every year by promoting practices of being a good pet owner, raising funds for charity organizations, and praising our pet care specialists. Pets are such a major part of American society who have been by our side every step of the way over centuries.

Activities

There are so many great activities that you can publicly participate in or privately do in your own home! Take a break from sleeping in on the weekend and put some time aside to play with your dog or cat (or both!). As a pet owner, you are their whole world! It is only right as a “parent” to play with your fur babies. If they already receive enough attention, take a trip to a local zoo to learn more about exotic animals that could have lineage to your own pet. Most zoos have fees that partially fund charitable organizations that promote saving animals through conservation and adoption. You are not only learning more about different species of animals, but helping protect them as well.

Awareness Month Breakdown

National Pet Month is broken down into some funny weeks that each recognize different aspects of being a pet lover. Here is the scheduled:

  • Week 1: International Pooper Scooper Week
  • Week 2: Animal Care and Control Appreciation Week
  • Week 3: Animal Cruelty Awareness Week
  • Week 4: National Scoop the Poop Week

As you can see, National Pet Month is to mix the funny times of being a pet lover as well as practicing great habits to give your pet the quality of life they deserve. We hope this month leads to more memories with your four legged friends than ever before!
